Recollections

Midnight muse
swirl of smoke
zombies trample over
coffins long sealed

a familiar tune
from long past
plays havoc
with my heart

the last sunset
seems like ages ago
caffeine keeps me warm
this shivering night

the frost on the glass
the familiar sound of rain
the soul feels heavy
the pen seems light

Once more...

Hanging my heart
on the end of the pendulum
today she danced to the music
of the distant siren of the train
piercing through the silence of the night
once more...

Guiding me through
those familiar streets
with her sweat kissed palms
refreshing forgotten moments
today she smiled
once more...

A shot of tequila
and my eyes painted
like the sunset
preceeding an autumnal downpour
in longing today I cried
once more...

Loneliness...

Who has felt
the chill of solitude
greater than the desolate lover
bedeviled by the surge
of the zephyr of love
touching him
and swiftly blowing past

As long as I can remember
I have stood alone
naked to the bone
slivers of my soul
blowing like torn scraps of paper
against the hostile and cutting wind
now only waiting
for the inevitable...

An Adagio Evening

The music hums in my ears
melancholy like never before
and the roses laid on the table
are as red as one from those cliched poems
i dug out from my closet last night
and watched it drift away
along the breeze through my window

\The awkward silence hangs between us
like a pearl made of dewdrop
on the tip of a leaf
and hesitant fingers intertwine
to compensate for the loss of words

Slowly we savour each drop of caffeine
dipped in vanilla essence
relishing life
the way we knew it before
rejoicing in the fact
that it'd be smoke ever after

The sun disappears into naught
as if covered by a magic shawl
at first orange
and suddenly all black

The evening ends here
and so does the magic

One last smile
and I search my pockets
for a remaining cigarette...
